DesignStudio's principal, Mary K. Read, attended the Ontario College of Art (Toronto) in their fine arts program, and completed her Bachelor of Fine Art at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. She majored in studio arts (painting and drawing), and was led by her passion for visual communications to a career in commercial design. Prior to the successful launch of DesignStudio in 2000, she was employed for thirteen years at the University of Western Ontario first as Senior Designer and ultimately as its Art Director. She continues to service the university community with its many and varied print and web needs, but is happy to have developed a diverse list of loyal clients composed of other public sector corporations, small and mid-sized business, and non-profit and charitable organizations.
She has formed alliances with working partners that allow her to offer copywriting, editing, and programming services, and welcomes the opportunity to develop cross-media art direction and project management for her clientele. Mary endeavours at all times to ensure that each of her clients are satisfied with both the quality of the end product and the process by which we get there. Professionalism, technical excellence, and clean, tailored design are her hallmarks.
